The Strachan Mansion at Haig Point was built in 1910 on St. Simons Island as a summer retreat. In 1986, the new developers of the community moved the mansion to Haig Point with two barges over three days in some times treacherous waters. The historic building was restored to its magnificence as you see today.

Featuring four luxurious suites, each with a tie to Haig Point's history and beautifully themed with antique furnishings, the Mansion presents comfortably elegant accommodations for guests of residents and members. Guests can unwind from their busy day with a refreshing beverage at the bar, playing billiards with friends or simply relaxing in one of the cozy gathering places.

The General Store is located in the Mansion, stocked with necessities to tide you over between trips to the mainland. In the mornings, the Mansion offers complimentary coffee, muffins and daily newspapers. The Member hub also houses our on-site post office, and it’s a Wi-Fi hot spot for those wanting a peaceful place to catch up on work while watching dolphins frolic in the surf.

  I had no towels in my room, which I didn't notice until after I got out of the shower, and the television did not work the first night there.

  Charming setting, property dated and worn, stains on carpet and linens, bathroom really needs an upgrade, coffee supplies not useable. “Front door” to Haig Point should be first class.

  We enjoyed our stay at Haig Point. The room had not been cleaned from the previous occupant. Apparently they stayed later than anticipated and housekeeping did not have the chance to fully clean our room. Some of the sheets and rugs appeared dirty and stained.

  The Inn was ideally located, clean and had the all amenities we needed for a lovely weekend visit. One Wish would be the general store offering longer hours, staying open a little later in the day (closed @ 5pm).

  Was just there one night, due to a flight change. We were in a lovely rental home for the entire week prior. The room was a bit dated, especially the bathroom. The TV jutting from wall with wires all over place was a bit low rent. No one to help with luggage, but like most venues at Haig you have a few people doing a ton of jobs. Otherwise the Mansion is great in terms of location, look/feel, coffee shop great. Would be cool id it had a little bar. Common spaces very nice.

  We stayed at the mansion vs renting a home because we came to Haig Point for a weekend wedding. It was just beautiful. We stayed in the gorgeous Cochran room and it was perfect. Very convenient to the Lighthouse (wedding location) and a golf cart ride to the Clubhouse and everything else. Loved our stay and will be back.

  Following our reservation, I noticed our name was incorrect on our reservation confirmation & was assured by Tameka H. of Member Services via email it was updated on 11/22 & when we checked in on 12/16 nothing was updated as stated. When I asked the young lady to correct our last name as I requested, she gave me an attitude. Along with the name not updated on the reservation, it was not updated on our golf cart reservation & my husband's name was not listed either for our golf reservation, which made Haig Point look unorganized as a whole. For the price, it was not what we expected, and nothing was special about the stay.(Wal-Mart brand towels were in the bathroom for us to use, which IMO cheapened the brand of Haig Point.)Before check-in, we were asked if we were staying for a special occasion, which we were...our 10th anniversary, & NOTHING was mentioned about it during our stay, so we are unsure why they asked us. Our dinner reservation at the Calibogue Club was cancelled the afternoon of our arrival date & we were shifted over to the Grill Room for dinner, which no one mentioned to us the Grill Room doesn't take cash as payment. We would suggest for Haig Point staff to welcome future guests on the dock to show first timers as we were what to do and where to go, since no staff were there to welcome us...thank goodness a kind homeowner was on our ferry to act as the welcome wagon, since no staff were present. Also, not sure why we were asked to have our luggage outside of the room at a certain time in the AM for check-out since it was still located outside our room when we returned from golf. While we had beautiful weather during our round of golf, the constant noise & us overhearing the starter & 11AM tee time talking negatively about us following our round was rude.

  We were fortunate to have been invited to the island by residents so we had the luxury of spending a few days with them and then 3 nights at the mansion. Location of the mansion could not be better. The room is large, nicely furnished with bar fridge and comfortable king bed. Nice lounge and games area on the main level with coffee and buns available each morning. We visited the museums, artists, rum tasting, dined at Lucy Bell’s and enjoyed special coffee at at School Grounds. Had 2 great meals at the Beach Club, one of which was the Octoberfest event. Fun evening with dancing to live music

As promised, my room and golf cart were ready for me, upon arrival, and I could immediately jump into my plans. The ferry ride, to the island, is a perfect way to unwind for the island atmosphere.
