*Mongin Room

The Strachan Mansion at Haig Point was built in 1910 on St. Simons Island as a summer retreat. In 1986, the new developers of the community moved the mansion to Haig Point with two barges over three days in some times treacherous waters. The historic building was restored to its magnificence as you see today.

Featuring four luxurious suites, each with a tie to Haig Point's history and beautifully themed with antique furnishings, the Mansion presents comfortably elegant accommodations for guests of residents and members. Guests can unwind from their busy day with a refreshing beverage at the bar, playing billiards with friends or simply relaxing in one of the cozy gathering places.

The General Store is located in the Mansion, stocked with necessities to tide you over between trips to the mainland. In the mornings, the Mansion offers complimentary coffee, muffins and daily newspapers. The Member hub also houses our on-site post office, and it’s a Wi-Fi hot spot for those wanting a peaceful place to catch up on work while watching dolphins frolic in the surf.

  I'm a member who stayed one night here prior to moving to a house rental. The mansion is quaint and the idea is terrific-- stay in an "antiquey" type of antebellum environment--but in truth some modern conveniences would make this better for the rate. The Mongin room has a step up and into (and down and out of) the bathroom. Almost faceplanted. Possibly worse than that, the tub / shower combo is an old, stand-alone that would be very easy to slip and fall in or fall out of. Given the height of the tub, an injury is possible. In short, don't have any cocktails in you when you hit the showers in this otherwise fun room for a night or two.

  Beautiful room in an historic building! The water view was a treat, as was staying at this lovely site. Having Starbucks just downstairs was a real bonus. Of course, the rest of the incomparable amenities that come with this stay (ferry ride, access to the Calibogue Club, golf cart, pool, etc) as well as having the chance to visit Daufuskie Island's Historic District made this a fantastic experience. Highly recommend!!!

  This is our second visit to the Strachan Mansion and the Mongin Room. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and beautiful. Also, the sunsets from the Mongin room were amazing. Lots of golf, swimming and tennis on Haig Point. I would definitely recommend staying at the Strachan Mansion. Can't wait to come back.   We had the very best time on Haig Point!!! Jim and every other person we had contact with were absolutely fantastic, they made our trip tailored fit to us. My husband loved playing golf, it was on his bucket list!!! He said the course was in pristine condition!!! The food in the club was delicious, great job Shorty. Dinner at Caribougue was absolutely delicious and the staff just wonderful. My husbands birthday surprise was perfect thanks to all of you!!

  First time on Daufuskie discovering about Haig Point. Our room at the Historic Strachan Mansion could not have been better. We stayed in the Mongin suite and the view and accommodations were amazing. The view of the Haig Point embarkation on the Cooper River was beautiful every day but especially the morning sunrise. The staff was amazing. Everyone went out of there way to make us feel like we we part of the Haig Point family. What a great community.
