The Strachan Mansion at Haig Point was built in 1910 on St. Simons Island as a summer retreat. In 1986, the new developers of the community moved the mansion to Haig Point with two barges over three days in some times treacherous waters. The historic building was restored to its magnificence as you see today.

Featuring four luxurious suites, each with a tie to Haig Point's history and beautifully themed with antique furnishings, the Mansion presents comfortably elegant accommodations for guests of residents and members. Guests can unwind from their busy day with a refreshing beverage at the bar, playing billiards with friends or simply relaxing in one of the cozy gathering places.

The General Store is located in the Mansion, stocked with necessities to tide you over between trips to the mainland. In the mornings, the Mansion offers complimentary coffee, muffins and daily newspapers. The Member hub also houses our on-site post office, and it’s a Wi-Fi hot spot for those wanting a peaceful place to catch up on work while watching dolphins frolic in the surf.

  We loved spending Thgiving with our family who housed all the food, our daughters and all the family including tiny ones, giving us the opportunity to slip away via our complementary golf cart for quiet time to the historic Haig Point Mansion. Starbucks cafe downstairs so convenient. Our visit was awesome!

  The good news: Staff members were very friendly and accommodating so I felt very welcomed. Check-in was a breeze and my golf cart was waiting when I arrived. The cheerful young lady at the Haig Point Cafe made me a lovely drink when I arrived and took good care of me thereafter. Breakfast service at the Clubhouse was terrific and the food very good. I loved everything about the Beach Club pool. Clean, well-maintained, and wonderful staff at the Pool Bar.
  The bad news: My room seemed clean enough but was not well-maintained. The rug was unraveling and quite frankly a safety hazard. Some of the curtains were torn and tied up. There were what appeared to be coffee stains on walls and woodwork, the towels were quite stained as was the shower curtain. Water sprayed onto the bathroom floor despite redirecting the shower-head. Also, it was sometimes difficult to locate a staff member within the Mansion- particularly later in the evening. At one point late on Sunday evening, I was not sure that anyone was responsible for overnight guests.
  Overall, it is a beautiful location and more attention to detail in some areas would make it a perfect vacation spot.

  We had a wonderful experience at Haig Point and staying at the Mansion. The use of the golf cart was awesome, and having Starbucks coffee right down stairs was superb. Everyone on the premises was very nice and helpful. It was a super fun get-away!

  Great overall feeling to just relax. People are friendly the nature is outstanding and the lack of condo's and limited vehicles makes you feel relaxed. The mansion was a great historical place to stay. Limited breakfast options and never did find an ice machine in the mansion for drinks. But there were a few located about the island golf shop and pool area’s.

  I responded to an ad for a stay and play package but never got the package. No fre meals, no tours and no pitches to buy. Almost all the staff, particularly in the club house were wonderful. However, the lady servicing the mansion and the waiter the 1st night need some lessons in manners and social interaction. Apparently they like most of the hospitality industry is having a hard time getting help as we transition out of COVID lockdown. 2nd night dinner we with an hour and a half. Others walked out which is big since there is no where else to go. When dinner did come I didn’t get what I ordered. Fun driving the golf cart around the island but they need new carts with better range. We cut it short and barely got back. Great golf course and fabulous tastefully designed homes. Really nice beaches and one funky place off campus to go for lunch was fun.

  Overall it was a good weekend stay with the facilities being excellent and the staff is top notch. Had excellent dinner at the Calibogue Club and a great breakfast on Sunday at the Grill room of the golf club. Only issues were the guest room was a little cramped and only had on seating chair so there was only the bed to sit on otherwise and the coffee cups in the room weren't clean. Also, they had been repainting an adjacent room so they had protective paper taped down on the stairs to get to our room making it a little awkward to traverse. Overall it was a good visit.
