The Strachan Mansion at Haig Point was built in 1910 on St. Simons Island as a summer retreat. In 1986, the new developers of the community moved the mansion to Haig Point with two barges over three days in some times treacherous waters. The historic building was restored to its magnificence as you see today.

Featuring four luxurious suites, each with a tie to Haig Point's history and beautifully themed with antique furnishings, the Mansion presents comfortably elegant accommodations for guests of residents and members. Guests can unwind from their busy day with a refreshing beverage at the bar, playing billiards with friends or simply relaxing in one of the cozy gathering places.

The General Store is located in the Mansion, stocked with necessities to tide you over between trips to the mainland. In the mornings, the Mansion offers complimentary coffee, muffins and daily newspapers. The Member hub also houses our on-site post office, and it’s a Wi-Fi hot spot for those wanting a peaceful place to catch up on work while watching dolphins frolic in the surf.

  From there, Courtney is an absolute Super Star in service, information, logistics, and reservations, and just a super helpful resource for our entire trip. The golf course was amazing and challenging but that's what I expected. Your members and staff were so welcoming to Jennifer and me and I can't thank you enough fo this experience. I will be thinking about that wine dinner for decades and I'm already rethinking how I make pasta after the wonderful Italian night on Tuesday.

  Our weekend stay in the Ash room was delightful. Upon our arrival, our luggage was brought directly to our room. The room is large and has access to a shared balcony overlooking the sound. The pull-out couch worked great for our two young children to share. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. There were just a few cons for this room that I think could be easily improved upon by rental management: 1. Ensure coffee pods and cups are in the room for guests, and 2. Provide linens for the pull-out couch. We otherwise had a fantastic stay and I would recommend the Ash room, especially for short-term stays for individuals, couples, or families with young children/toddlers.

  Ferry process was efficient, well run. Room was nice, spacious. Bathroom could use a towel bar, but minor complaint. Staffing of coffee bar was sporadic. Never opened on time. Staff, when present, was pleasant.

  From the moment we booked our room, we were thrilled with the care and attention we received from the booking service at Haig Point. They did everything they could to ensure our happiness with transport, golf cart rental and our rooms were beautiful. However, we asked in advance and on the day that the pull out bed be made up for the children in one of the rooms and were assured it would be set up perfectly for our return in the evening form a day of activities. Unfortunately, on our return the bed was not made up, there were no sheets or blankets and we were informed the hotel staff was gone for the evening. We were forced to share blankets and pillows and borrow sheets from our friend who lives on the island. In the morning, we were told by the hotel manager that it was not her fault but the fault of the cleaners. She completely transferred any ownership of the issue and did nothing to make up for the error. She was not apologetic, but rather laid blame on the cleaning staff for not understanding the instructions leaving us with no recourse to correct the issue. She did not offer a discount or apology. Everything else was fabulous but for the price we paid it was an unacceptable oversight. I recommend Haig Point, loved the rooms and want to go again but not if this woman is running the show.

  A few things made it less than stellar!
  -- No glasses for water in room
  -- Hard to find anyone to ask for directions or other info. If you are an event guest as we were, with no one who was an actual member, you are pretty much on your own to figure out most Haig Point logistics.
  I would not recommend to a friend who was not a club member's relative or friend also.

  I stayed in the Ash room at the mansion. It was an absolutely beautiful room, the bed was so incredibly comfortable that I woke up in the same spot I fell asleep in. The balcony overlooking the inter coastal waterway was the perfect backdrop to a dreamy weekend for my best friends wedding. The only downside to the room was I wish there was a big bathtub.

  We've always wanted to experience Daufuskie culture, but were disappointed in that regard, as we were there on a full Monday, and the shops and eateries were closed except for one small general store and bar at Old Daufuskie Crab Company. That was a pleasant place to stop and have a beer and sit by the water. But, don't expect much in terms of food or service. Not much else to see, but tooling around on a golf cart was fun. Haig Point, where we stayed in the Ash Room of the Mansion, was beautiful and the staff couldn't be more accommodating. Gold course was great! Overall, a great overnight stay and a great value.

  Nice spot for a couple of days but very few places to eat unless you go to HiltonHead. Bring LOTS of bug spray and books.Mansion staff leaves by 5 pm so take care of business before.Island and property maps are terrible but residents will help you info on anything...you can plug your golf cart in, in the cart barn...who knew?
